Amanda Brugel
(February 27th, 2010 - Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a secluded community in this part of the island of Montreal that is known as the West Island. This part of the island known as West Island can be confusing to those unfamiliar to its significance. They often believe it's an island located to the west of Montreal However, it's actually the West Island encompasses everything between the cities that are Lachine as well as West. Amanda Brugel's birthplace has been frequently cited, however her short stay wasn't. Brugel developed on Courtice close to Oshawa within Ontario. Her early ambition was to be a dancer but an increase in her height led to her growing beyond her dance partners. In an article published in The Toronto Star she admitted In heels, I'm 6 feet one inch. The moment I outgrew my male counterpart and stopped dancing, I quit. Brugel was one of many former dancers who shifted into acting. Her high school teacher school was what pushed her into the right direction. She was encouraged to try out for roles in a school production. She auditioned and was cast as Anne of Green Gables. It led to her receiving the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship from York University. In 2000, she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts at York University. Brugel's career spans over twenty years, and she's performed in more than 60 shows that have screened on large screens and on smaller ones. Her most recognizable role was that of Rita (pictured beneath) on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian part of the cast in Season 1 of the series and not seen much.
